Reactive Arthritis

Reactive arthritis is an inflammatory joint disorder that occurs after an infection, commonly affecting the joints, eyes, and urinary tract.

Fibromyalgia

A chronic disorder of unknown etiology characterized by pain, stiffness, and tenderness in the muscles of neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs.

Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis caused by excess uric acid in the blood, leading to crystal deposition in joints.

Sports Injuries

Sports Injuries are injuries that occur during physical activity, exercise, or sports due to overuse, trauma, or improper technique.

Frozen Shoulder

Ligament Tears

Ligament tear or sprain is the overstretching or tearing of the tough tissue connecting bones at a joint commonly seen in areas like knee, ankle, wrist due to sudden twisting, trauma or sports related stress.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disorder that primarily affects the joints, leading to pain, swelling, stiffness, and progressive joint damage.

Symptoms:

  1. Pain and swelling in the small joints of hands and in wrists, knees and ankles .
  2. Morning stiffness lasts more than 1 hour which reduces with movement.
  3. Swelling , redness and warmth in the joints .
  4. General malaise
  5. Persistent tiredness
  6. Low grade fever
  7. Loss of appetite

In Ayurveda, it is correlated with Amavata, a disorder caused by the accumulation of Ama (toxins) along with aggravation of Vata Dosha, leading to inflammation and joint involvement. Experience the power of Panchakarma — restoring joint health naturally with visible and lasting results.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative joint disease characterized by the gradual breakdown of cartilage, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced joint function.

 Symptoms :

  1. Dull , aching joint pain which worsens with activity
  2. Crackling sound during joint movement
  3. Restricted movement
  4. Mild joint swelling

In Ayurveda, it is correlated with Sandhivata, a disorder caused predominantly by aggravation of Vata Dosha along with degeneration of joint tissues (Dhatu Kshaya). At Dr. Ahmed’s Ayurvaidhya, we focus on restoring joint health, reducing pain, and slowing degeneration through  specialised panchakarma procedures – Vasti , Janu vasti and reducing the severe pain conditions by medications .

Reactive Arthritis

Reactive arthritis is an inflammatory joint disorder that occurs after an infection, commonly affecting the joints, eyes, and urinary tract.

 Symptoms:

  1. Joint pain and stiffness in lower back ,knee, ankle, feet.

Symptoms:

  1. Headaches.
  2. Jaw and facial pain due to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
  3. Irritable bowel syndrome.
  4. Anxiety.
  5. Depression.

Fibromyalgia does not have a direct single term in ayurveda but it closely resembles vata vyadhi, mamsa dhatu dushti with manasika factors. Our approach is by Amapachana, improving digestion and by a panchakarma procedure called  Vasti that is medicated enema.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting both the joints and skin, commonly associated with psoriasis. It presents with joint pain, swelling, stiffness, along with characteristic scaly skin lesions and nail changes.

Symptoms:

  1. Joint pain and stiffness
  2. Discoloration near affected joints

In Ayurveda, this condition can be correlated with Vatarakta along with involvement of Kushtha, where there is vitiation of Vata and Rakta, along with imbalance of other doshas. The pathology involves impaired digestion (Agnidushti), formation of Ama (toxins)

Management begins with Nidana Parivarjana (elimination of causative factors) such as avoiding incompatible, spicy, and processed foods, along with stress control. This is followed by Amapachana to eliminate toxins and improve metabolism, and Rakta Shodhana (blood purification) to reduce inflammation and improve skin health. Vata Shamana therapy is emphasized to relieve joint pain, stiffness, and improve mobility.

GOUT

Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis caused by excess uric acid in the blood, leading to crystal deposition in joints.

Symptoms:

  • Sudden, intense joint pain
  • Most commonly affects the big toe
  • Swelling, redness, warmth
  • Limited movement of joint
  • Skin discoloration

In Ayurveda, gout is correlated with “Vatarakta” which is due to vitiation of rakta and vata . In ayurveda management is done by shodana and shamana . shodhana with virechana, raktamokshana and basti  and pain management by oral medications.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder or Adhesive Capsulitis is a condition characterized by stiffness ,pain and restricted movement in the shoulder joint.

Symptoms:

  1. Severe pain and stiffness
  2. Limited range of movement
  3. Sleep disturbances as pain worsens at night

In Ayurveda, it is correlated with Avabahuka, a disorder caused by aggravated Vata dosha leading to dryness and restricted joint movement . In Ayurveda there is special indication for Nasya karma in frozen shoulder and the treatment  focuses on relieving pain and restoring mobility through therapies like Abhyanga (medicated oil massage), Swedana (fomentation).

Ligament Tears

Ligament tear or sprain is the overstretching or tearing of the tough tissue connecting bones at a joint commonly seen in areas like knee, ankle, wrist due to sudden twisting, trauma or sports related stress.
